Dear Tae Kwon Doist or Parent:
We are pleased to announce that on
Saturday, March 15th
Grandmaster Duk Sung Son,
9th degree black belt,

will be making his annual visit from New York City for a tournament and black belt testing. Participants from other areas of the country will join with the students in our Southeastern Region for the event.

The TOURNAMENT will be held at the Isle of Palms Recreation Department on 28th Avenue. All students are encouraged, indeed advised, to participate in the tournament. Such participation is absolutely essential to obtain a full Tae Kwon Do experience. The entry fee is $45 ($40 for Pee-Wee Division) which includes forms and sparring (3-step for white belts). There is a discount for families. Please make tournament checks payable to J. Emmel, M.D. The tournament will be free and open for spectators. Students and parents should remember that, although it is nice to win, the important part of a tournament is the spirit of full participation with 100% effort and friendly competition, regardless of outcome.

There will be COMPETITION in forms and free-style sparring. Each of these will be divided by belt level and age divisions: pee-wee (age 10 and under), junior (age 11-15), and adult (age 16 and over). For adults only, male and female competition will be separate. We reserve the right to place someone in a different "age" division depending on size. Your instructors will have entry forms. Please sign up early if possible.

BLACK BELT TESTING  and an optional supper will follow the tournament.

  9:30 am         Late registration for those who have not pre-registered for the tournament.

10:30 am         Eliminations begin. This will include (1) all forms competition including the finals, and (2) all sparring competition including the finals for white through brown belts.

  1:00 pm (approx.)     LUNCH BREAK – on your own

  2:00 pm (approx.)      FINALS (Black Belts Only) --- This will include the final matches to determine 1st and 2nd place sparring.

  3:00 pm (approx.)      Black Belt Testing

  6:30 – Social       Supper at ATD in Mt. Pleasant.

  7:00 – Supper served The cost is $30 for age 12 and up, $25 for age 11 and under.

Reservations must be made by March 8th. Make checks payable to “Citadel WTA” for the supper.
